Remote Learning - Year 4

Miss Perry

Our teachers are still looking after your children during this lock-down. Each week, we will contact you to check that everything is going well and to see if there is anything else we can do to help. Also, they will be available through Google Classroom, and Class Dojo, marking the children's work and answering questions. Please see a suggested remote learning timetable at the bottom of this page.

If children are self-isolating, there is an expectation that they still complete work daily following the timetable of their class and return ALL work through Google Classroom, so that the teacher can give summary feedback about areas for improvement. If the year group bubble has to close, there is an expectation that children will move to remote learning and continue to follow their timetable.

Each week, we will provide an overview of the work being covered that week (this can also be found on our weekly newsletter on the Remote Learning home page). We will also provide live learning opportunities each week and the timetable for this can be found on the Remote Learning homepage. Please keep a look out for the links which will be posted on Google Classroom and Class Dojo.

If you need to contact us at any point, you can message us on Class Dojo/MCAS or call the school office on 01472 320016.

Week commencing 22nd February 2021

We will be looking at a new text, 'Fantastic Beasts', in reading and thinking about going on an adventure in our new writing unit. We will be revisiting place value in Maths.

We will be going on a river journey in geography and science moves on from sound (sorry grown ups, no more of that lovely opera singing) and onto light.

Week commencing 5th February 2021

This week, we will be finishing our work on the Jabberwocky and innovating The King of the Fishes in Reading and Writing. In Year 3, you will be completing more money problems and in Year 4 you will be continuing learning all about time.

We will be continuing to look at Shang Tang in History, continuing our learning about sound in Science and exploring more about the Christian religion in RE. There will be some more fun Art and DT challenges for you as well.

We had a brilliant week of mindfulness last week and hope that you did at home as well. Can you continue your daily positives?  We can't wait to see what brilliant learning you do this week! Keep up the fantastic work!

Parents/carers, as ever, if there is anything you need support with just get in touch.

Week commencing 1st February 2021

What an incredible week we had last week; we are so proud of the hard work and dedication that the children and parents/carers have been demonstrating!

In maths, we will be continuing our lessons on money and decimals – did you set up your own shop? Reading will see us delve deeper into the Jabberwocky poem, 'callooh, callay!' and writing sees us moving onto thinking about how we can innovate our King of the Fishes story. We are still looking into sound and how it works in science and for history we will be learning more about the Shang Dynasty. Our focus for RE will be Christianity. You will be having some more brilliant PE ideas sent through from Miss Cook too.

Parents/carers, if you have any questions, or feel that you need any support with anything, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Week commencing 25th January 2021

In writing, we will be starting a new story. We will be exploring the King of the Fishes which is a wising story. In reading, we will be delving into the Jabberwocky which is an exciting poem. For maths, we will be looking at multiplication and division and then moving onto looking at money and decimals. You could set up a shop at home and practise using money!

In our topic lessons, we will be continuing our learning about the Shang Dynasty in History, looking more into sound and how it works in Science, exploring more about Christianity in RE and continuing our dreams and goals work in PSHE. There will be opportunities for you to be creative with some Art and DT and lots of fun activities and challenges to keep you fit and active for PE. Why not take part in the DRET PE Challenge!

Parents/carers, if you have any questions, or feel that you need any support with anything, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Week commencing 18th January 2021

We have lots of exciting things happening in our home learning next week! We will continue our journey through the jungle in writing; there are lots of exciting writing tasks coming up! In reading, we will be continuing to look at Alice in Wonderland and exploring her character in more detail - we're even going to write a diary as though we were Alice! There is lots more fractions work in maths. At home, you could even try share things out in different fractions with your grown-ups or siblings! In our topic sessions, we are going to keep planning our healthy snack for DT, innovate our winter trees in Art, continue our learning about the Shang Dynasty for History, learn more about sound in Science, exploring Christianity in RE and thinking about our dreams and goals in PSHE.

We are very excited for the learning that will happen next week and hope you are too. We love looking at all the work you're all doing and we are very proud of how hard you are working at home. We will keep uploading videos to help you with your learning.

We will also be uploading a chapter a day of our class book. Remember to keep sharing your learning with us on Google Classroom.

Parents/Carers - as ever, if there is anything you need please don't hesitate to get in touch and we will do our best to help! Please share any learning completed on paper on Google Classroom or send it to us on Class Dojo.
